The Glory of the Church

The most valued things on this earth are the Bible and the church. The Bible is given by God, not only for our instruction but also so that we may know God. The Bible is given by God, not only for our instruction but also so that we may know God. Paul described the glory of the Scriptures in 1 Corinthians 2:9-10, “Things, which eye saw not, and ear heard not, and which entered not into the heart of man, Whatsoever things God prepared for them that love him. But unto us God revealed them through the Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”

The importance of the Word is exemplified by the Apostles’ determination to preach the Word. The ministry of the word superseded even the daily feeding of the needy in Acts 6. The twelve said, “It is not fit that we should forsake the word of God, and serve tables…But we will continue steadfastly in prayer, and in the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:2-4).

The church is equally important. Acts 20:28 tells us that Jesus purchased the church with his own blood. What could be more valuable? The church is so precious that it took the blood of Jesus to bring it into existence. “His foundation is in the holy mountains. Jehovah loves the gates of Zion. More than all the dwellings of Jacob. Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God” (Psalm 87:1-3).

The church and the Bible are the most important things on earth, shouldn’t we arrange our lives around the church?
